many boards come with unknown or failed mfg test status in recovery and some h/w bugs or failures. These boards will not boot anything but recovery. But there is workaround - update to latest rom (it allows permanently save env vars) and change some vars:

most of these things you can do only with UART console. Caution - board uses 1.8v signal level and will be damaged if 3.3 or 5V UART used!
