The magentic storage divisions were spun off as "Magnetic Peripherals Inc" and "Rigidyne" in 1986.
"Magnetic Peripherals Inc" and "Rigidyne" were combined and renamed as a new company "Imprimis Technology" in 1988.
Seagate purchased Imprimis in 1989 and converted the existing product lines into its family of brands.
